A Conversation with Sportmed’s Liette Paulin LeBlanc
What is it you do as a dietitian?
As a dietitian, my role is to provide a healthy and balanced diet based on individual needs. People with dietary restrictions or health problems may have difficulty choosing nutritious foods. I teach them how to make healthy choices and give them a variety of foods to eat while respecting their restrictions.
What made you want to become a dietitian?
Food and cooking have always been a passion. Discovering new foods and cooking new recipes is a daily pleasure. This passion inspired me to study nutrition to help people have a healthy relationship with food and help them with food choices in the event of health problems or dietary restrictions.
Do you have a specialty?
As a mother of two young children, I understand first hand the issues that parents face. We want the best for our children, but sometimes we just don’t know what “the best” is, especially when it comes to nutrition.
Children are notoriously picky eaters. My goal is to empower parents by helping them in better understand their children’s nutritional needs and to provide them with different methods that will help get their children to eat and eat well.
Today, allergies are ubiquitous. It’s important to know how to identify foods that contain allergens and substitute them appropriately. When parents receive an allergy diagnosis for their children, it is often a shock, so having the necessary support can really help.
What do you like most about your job?
Interacting and sharing my knowledge to help people reach their goal and deepen their knowledge about nutrition.
Why did you choose to work at Sportmed?
Working with other health professionals with the common goal of bringing out the best in yourself is very important. The quality of the service offered to customers is essential and it’s clearly visible when you watch Sportmed’s professionals at work.
Do you do voluntary work?

I’m an avid reader and I currently I sit as an advisor to the board of Salon du livre de Dieppe.
